Thinking about the last time I had to work on a group project the group met face-to-face. A group of 5 meet around a table, the experience was typically positive. Meeting face-to-face works well to begin with to set the ground work and then it’s easy to switch to a combination of online collaboration and face-face meetings. We did not use any of the tools outlined in Thing 12 during the meeting, however it was decided during the meeting that we would use Sharepoint to collaborate going forward; so as well as face-to-face meetings we would add/update documents using this tool. The experience was on the whole a positive experience.
I have used Teamwork and Skype in the past on collaborative projects as well as other useful tools not mentioned in the post such as Vidyo and Google Hangouts. If I had to do the project again using a tool outlined in Thing 12 (Teamwork, Doodle, Slack etc.) I think I would have found Teamwork the most useful as it is easy to communicate and collaborate as a team with this tool.
